
Meet Rev. Clare Austen
Senior Minister/CEO
My personal mission statement: To love wastefully; to speak my truth and inspire others to do the same.
Clare graduated from Unity School of Religious Studies’ Ministerial Program
in 1988 and was ordained in 1989. She served Unity Temple on the Plaza in Kansas
City, MO for five years beginning as a student in 1987 and continuing as the
Associate Minister until 1993. Clare then served Unity Center of Columbia in
Columbia, Missouri for eight years before coming to Spokane. Clare was born and
raised in Camas, Washington and has a BA degree in Human Services from Evergreen
State College in Olympia, Washington.
She also studied photography and journalism at both Clark College in Vancouver,
Washington and Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon. Before ministry
Clare worked as a social worker and a media production assistant creating slide
shows and videos. Along with ministry, her passions today include environmental
education and the healing of racism. Clare has been a leader in the Unity
movement for many years serving on the Association of Unity Churches’ Licensing
and Ordination, Admissions, and Convention Teams. She served as a member of the
Association board 1996 – 2004, and as chair of the board 2002 -2003.
Meet Rev.Diedre Ashmore
Minister
of Pastoral Care

Diedre began her service at Unity Church of Truth immediately following her
graduation and ordination in 1999 from Unity School of Religious Studies’
Ministerial education Program. Born and raised in Kellogg, Idaho, Diedre has a
BA degree in Human Services from Western Washington University in Bellingham,
Washington. Prior to becoming a minister, Diedre was director of a senior center
and a professional storyteller. She currently is serving Unity’s Northwest
Region of the Association of Unity Churches as co-chair of the regional board. A
world traveler, Diedre’s affinity for martial art has lead her to a daily
practice of Tai Chi and QiQong for the past 14 years.

Meet Rev.Jackie Green
Youth and
Family Minister
Jacolyn Green, aka Jackie, has been a member of Spokane Unity Church of
Truth since 1972. Beginning in 1973 as a volunteer with Unity youth she
evolved into serving as Youth Education Director and later Y.O.U. sponsor
with her husband, Wayne. In 1979 she was hired by the Northwest Region of
the Association of Unity Churches to serve as Youth Education Consultant (Y.O.U./Uniteens),a
role that she continues to hold. In 1981 she expanded her focus when she was
hired as Director of Youth and Family Ministry here at our church.
