Wednesday Evenings at Unity

Get your weekly recharge of spirit!  Joins us for dinner at 5:45, with meditation at 6:30 and program at 7:00. 

 

Wednesdays in September

 

September 1: Get Over It, Part 1- Ready to be rocked out of your habitual way of thinking about spiritual sacred cows?  Let's explore (and shatter) the validity of the phrases we use to express our spirituality.

September 8: Get Over It, Part 2 - Clare and Dennis continue to deal with a fundamental idea:  It's not the unanswered questions that keep us in the dark but the unquestioned answers!

September 15: Universal Worship Service - Our Wednesday night dinner and program will be an International Potluck, followed by a Universal Worship Service, sponsored by the Sufi group, Dances for Universal Peace.

September 22: Loving What Is, Part 1 - Clare explains this fall's Commit to Life Series, based on Loving What Is, the work from Byron Katie.  It is the first of two nights that will prepare us for the October Grace Bell workshop.

September 29: Loving What Is, Part 2 - Clare and Dennis take us farther into the Loving What Is material.  They will introduce us to key concepts and provide a great overview for the Commit to Life Series. 

Healthy U, with Mary Teresa True:  Mary Teresa True facilitates this healthy lifestyle support group.  Walking from 4 - 5 pm, class from 5 - 5:30 on Wednesdays.  Healthy topics discussed weekly; optional weigh-in.  By Love Offering. 

 

Weekly Meditations

 

Wednesdays:  With Clare and Dennis.  8:30 am to 9:15 am and 6:30 pm to 6:50 pm. 

Sunday Afternoons:  Meditation and More, facilitated by Regina Merritt.  Sunday afternoons from 1 pm to 3 pm in the Education Wing.  Come anytime.  By Love Offering.d Dennis.  8:30 am to 9:15 am and 6:30 pm to 6:50 pm. 

 

 

What's Happening!   

 

Unity World Day of Prayer Vigil:  Thursday, September 9.  Join us in the chapel for prayer and meditation.

One Peace, Many Paths - Pathways to Peace:  September 11 to 21.  

  • A Reader's Theatre production of Handy Dandy by William Gibson will be performed Saturday, September 11 at 7 pm by Dennis Ashley and Janet Cook.  A discussion and short candlelighting ceremony will follow. 
  • On Saturday, September 18, a Peace Arts Festival will take place from 10 am to 4 pm.  Both visual and performing arts will be featured, including an art show, family art activities, drumming, dancing, and poetry.  If you are a visual artist or poet who would like to participate, see Joan Broeckling or onepeacemanypaths.org for more information. 

Gathering of the Waters Ceremony:  Sunday, September 12 at both services.  Bring water from your summer travels for our annual ceremony.

 

Unity Picnic:  Sunday, September 12 after the 11:00 am service.  Sign up now for the Unity Picnic at Comstock Park!  The church will supply hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers.  We ask that you sign up to bring side dishes, desserts, or beverages.  Help is needed to make this annual event a success, so please visit the Seva Center to sign up.

 

Byron Katie's The Work Shop, with certified facilitator Grace Bell from Seattle. Friday and Saturday, October 8 - 9.  Two-day tickets before August 31 - $89.

 

The Jesus Seminar "The Gospel of Thomas" presented by Westar Institute.  Friday and Saturday, November 5 - 6.

 

Financial Peace University - January 2011.  A world-renowned course for building integrity with our money.

 

Vacation Bible School - Summer 2011.  VBS returns to Unity, July 11 - 15, 2011!  Empowering children ages PreK to 6th Grade with a curriculum of creativity in song and expression.
